Accents that make communication difficult in the workplace can result in costly errors, lost customers as well as frustration and inefficiency. Some otherwise excellent employees may be reluctant to communicate their ideas in meetings or do presentations because they are so self-conscious about speaking in English.
Course Information
Sylvia has been certified to offer the Compton P-ESL (Pronouncing English as a Second Language) Program. It can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your employees. For example, mock presentations, telephone calls and other situations can be used to practise new skills. In addition, clients are asked to record key words and phrases each week that cause them particular difficulty or are used with a higher frequency in their work.
Classes can be scheduled to fit in with what's best for your company. Significant discounts are offered for groups. Each client will be seen individually for pre and post assessments (approximately 1 hour for each) as well as for a mid-term conference. For groups of 3 to 5 employees, the entire course will take approximately 20 hours in addition to the assessment/conference time. The 20 hours can be divided into 13 weekly sessions or condensed into as little as 3 full-day sessions. Sylvia will travel to your office at no additional charge for groups of 3 or more within the GTA.
Each employee needs to have his/her own practise materials. These are available on audiotape, CD-Rom, Audio-CD or as a combination of these. As practise is an integral part of the program, the employer will be informed immediately of any employee who is obviously not completing homework exercises. A final written report will be completed for each participant and will include recommendations for further practise.
Please contact Sylvia directly to find out more information about the course, including fees or, to arrange a brief presentation. Sylvia has a wide variety of before and after speech samples she would be happy to share with you.
